Riverlands Swim Team
Established in 1961, Riverlands Golf and Country Club’s membership is compiled of families and retirees most of whom live in the Parishes of Jefferson, St. John, and St. James. The member-owned private club can be described as family-friendly with a relaxed, casual atmosphere. The Stingrays swim team was founded in the summer of 1974 by Janet Hymel. She has fond memories of her management days, where “heat sheets were done by hand on typewriters, and changes weren’t made with just a click of a button!”
The Stingrays are one of the six teams that make up the River Parishes Swim League. We compete against the LARAYO Barracudas, Sun Villa Sharks, Hill Heights Hurricanes, LaVacherie Gators, and the Ellington Orcas. Swim practices begin in mid-May, meets begin in early June, and the season is culminated by a league-wide invitational, which rotates pools each year.
